Human and Institutional Building

Human and Institutional Building: Improve the institutional and human capacity of the Cooperatives and Self Help Groups in Palestine through providing them with training, advisory services, material support and other related services.

•  Rural Women Empowerment : Enhancing the role of the rural women to participate in building the economic, social and democratic pillars of the Palestinian society; this is mainly accomplished through women cooperative societies. Theoretical and practical training along with the provision of input means for homemade food processing, beekeeping, training on institutional capacity building with the intention of improving vulnerable households' capacity to produce food for household consumption and income generation. Moreover, ESDC organizes self help groups into cooperative societies for their future sustainability. This is mainly achieved through conducting needs assessment, identifying target groups through field scanning of women groups and societies.

•  Transfer of knowledge : ESDC plans and conducts exchange visits among cooperatives, enhancing participative way of thinking for joint future economic projects. Another pioneer intervention for transfer of knowledge is Cooperative Summer Camps. Not only such camps aim to fun, play and psychological relaxation but they also contain specific messages of cooperation methods and principles to convey to the children in an easy and smooth way promoting them to play a future role in the cooperative work and self dependence.

•  Institutional Building: ESDC works in two dimensions, the first is building the capacities of self help groups to become cooperatives, the second is building the capacities of already existing cooperatives, in depth, to enhance its current internal system and leveraging its activities. In both dimensions, ESDCs' ultimate purpose is to promote the values and benefits of teamwork, cooperative values, democracy and good governance, in addition to improve the quality and quantity of products produced by the cooperatives along with stretching the community base that targets the largest number of community members for the sake of achieving socio-economic development.
